niaatthetimeoftheformationofthedynastyofWestPomeraniandukes.
The12thcenturyintheBalticSlavs(WesternPomerania,RügenandElbe
region)wascharacterizedbythestillexistingpolytheisticcultwithtemples
ofthegods,whichwasaphenomenononaEuropeanscale.

natedevenattheendofthethirddecadeofthe12thcentury.Therewas
noshortageofclandestineworshipfollowingtheofcialintroductionof
Christianity,orsyncretismwithinoldbeliefsandthenewreligion.
Bypointingtothekeymomentsofthemeetingoftworeligioussystems
andtheirmanifestationsinthemindsoftheBalticSlavsthroughtheprism
oftheyoungGrifnstate,therichnessoftheculturalheritage,testifying
todeeplyrootedPomeraniantraditionsfromcenturiesago,becomesmore
noticeable.
