Fromtheearliestagesofrecordedhistoryhumanshaveengagedineconomic

activitiesandthoseactivitieshaveoftenbeensubjecttoscientificscrutiny,

particularlyinmoderntimes.Thescientificknowledgeoneconomicprocesses,

generatedfromobservationandstudies,hasbecomemoreandmorecomplex

andspecialised,whichisaclearmanifestationoftherichanddiversifiedforms

ofmodernbusinessinvolvementandtherapidchangesintheglobaleconomy,

especiallyinthesphereofinformationtechnology.

Basedontheaboveconclusions,itmayseemnecessaryandhighlydesirableto

producealogicalandcomprehensiveclassificationofthescientificknowledgeon

thevariouselementsofbusinessoperationtobetterorganisethescopeofresearch

anddidacticendeavourandtoimprovetheevaluationofscientificachievementsin

thisparticularfieldofstudies[Gorynia2016,p.125].Inapopularclassification,

sciencecanbedividedintothreelevels,namely:sciencedomain,sciencediscipline,

andscientificspecialisation[Pabis,Jaros2009,p.22].

Humaneconomicactivitiesarethesubjectofinterestineconomicsciences

which,accordingtotheclassificationadoptedinPoland,representthedomainof

science.Assuch,theycompriseoffourscientificdisciplines:economics,finance,

managementsciences,andcommodityscience.1Theabovedisciplines,analysed

fromtheviewpointoftheirobjectives,researchspecificitiesandmethodologies,

andtheoreticalframework,areincreasinglymorecomplementaryandcoplanar,

ratherthanbeingwidelyseparateandautonomous.

Internationaleconomicsandinternationalbusiness

Bearinginmindthattheauthorofthischapterendeavourstopresentthe

evolutionofinternationalbusinessasafieldofresearch,itmaybeusefulat

thispointtodiscusssomeofthemostimportantinsightsontheplacement

ofinternationalbusiness(IB)withinthedomainofeconomicsciences.For

thispurpose,letusadopttheassumptionthatinternationaleconomicsis

perceivedasasegmentofeconomicswithafocusontheinternationalaspects

ofbusinessoperation,whileinternationalbusiness(IB)representsasegment

ofmanagementscienceswithfocusontheinternationalaspectsofbusiness

operation[Gorynia2012,p.49].Thedomainofinternationaleconomicsis

definedatmacroeconomiclevel,whileinternationalbusinessresearch(both
