definition.Withinthecontextofoperationalriskitshouldberememberedaboutthepossibility
ofreputationlossduetooperationalriskevents,andlegalriskinparticular,whichconsequently
mayresultinthefailureofimplementingthebusinessstrategyofthebankwhiledecreasingthe
plannedincome(e.g.duetothefallincustomertrustandendingtheircooperationwiththe
bank),orinthedecreaseinthecompanyvalue.”

Forthepurposeoffurtherstudiesthispublicationacceptsthebasicscopeofthe
definitionofoperationalriskwhichisgivenbytheBaselCommitteeonBankingSupervision
withamodificationofthePolishFinancialSupervisionAuthority,namely,thatriskwillbe
furtherunderstoodastheriskoflossresultingfromimproperorfailinginternalprocesses,
peopleandsystems,oralsofromexternalevents,butexcludinglegalrisk.

OnthebasisofthedefinitionofoperationalriskformedbytheBaselCommitteeand
onthebasisoftheresearchconductedbytheRiskManagementAssociationwecanpresent
fourbasicfactorsinvolvedinoperationalrisk:
