ed,highlightingtheconservatismoftheancientpopulaceofNegotinoGradište(Brillowski2009:2-9).
Tedatingofparticularphasesofthesettlementisconstantlybeingrefinedbytheanalysisofdateable
materials,suchasthecoinsandceramics,recoveredfromthesite.Asmattersstandatthemoment,
however,itsfourmainlevelshavebeendistinguished,datedfrom4thcenturyBCtofirsthalfof2nd
centuryAD.
TeremainssituatedontheNegotinoGradišteplateauhavebeenconsideredasapossiblecandidate
fortheancientcityofAntigoneia.Antigoneiawassituatedintheareathatonceformedthekingdom
ofPaeonia.ItwaspresumablyaroyalfoundationnamedafteroneoftherulersoftheAntigoniddynasty,
