May(1953).Coanda’sideawasaphase-invertedcancellationbuthisproject
encounteredtechnicalproblemsandthereforeitisrarelymentioned[Pawelczyk,
2005].Luegattenuatedaone-dimensionalacousticwaveinaductusing
feedforwardfromanupstreammicrophone.OlsonandMayappliedfeedbackfrom
adownstreammicrophonetoattenuateambientnoisearoundtheheadrestinaseat.
Althoughtheabovepublicationsareusuallyreferredtoasthefirstreportedworks
onANC,itshouldbenoticedthattheirauthorstookadvantageofthetheoryof
KirchhoffdiffractiondevelopedbyRubinowicz(1917),aPolishscientist.He
describedtheeffectofinterferenceoflightwavesfallingonascreenedge,what
resultedinmutualcompensationatsomeareas.
InPoland,ANCitselfwasfirststudiedbyCzarnecki(1970),whodetermined
conditionsforphasecompensationofsound,anditwasfurtherdevelopedand
