19.13Thenlittlechildrenwerebroughttohim,thatheshouldlayhis
handsonthemandpray;andthedisciplesrebukedthem.19.14ButJesus
said,“Allowthelittlechildren,anddon’tforbidthemtocometome;
fortheKingdomofHeavenbelongstooneslikethese.”19.15Helaidhis
handsonthem,anddepartedfromthere.
19.16Behold,onecametohimandsaid,“Goodteacher,whatgoodthing
shallIdo,thatImayhaveeternallife?”
19.17Hesaidtohim,“Whydoyoucallmegood?[SoMTandTR.
NUreads“Whydoyouaskmeaboutwhatisgood?”]Nooneisgood
butone,thatis,God.Butifyouwanttoenterintolife,keepthe
commandments.”
19.18Hesaidtohim,“Whichones?”
Jesussaid,“‘Youshallnotmurder.’‘Youshallnotcommitadultery.’
‘Youshallnotsteal.’‘Youshallnotofferfalsetestimony.’19.19‘Honor
yourfatherandyourmother.’And,‘Youshallloveyourneighbor
asyourself.’”
19.20Theyoungmansaidtohim,“AllthesethingsIhaveobservedfrom
myyouth.WhatdoIstilllack?”
19.21Jesussaidtohim,“Ifyouwanttobeperfect,go,sellwhatyou
have,andgivetothepoor,andyouwillhavetreasureinheaven;and
come,followme.”19.22Butwhentheyoungmanheardthesaying,
hewentawaysad,forhewasonewhohadgreatpossessions.19.23Jesus
saidtohisdisciples,“MostcertainlyIsaytoyou,arichmanwillenter
intotheKingdomofHeavenwithdifficulty.19.24AgainItellyou,
itiseasierforacameltogothroughaneedle’seye,thanforarichman
toenterintoGod’sKingdom.”
19.25Whenthedisciplesheardit,theywereexceedinglyastonished,
saying,“Whothencanbesaved?”
19.26Lookingatthem,Jesussaid,“Withmenthisisimpossible,butwith
Godallthingsarepossible.”
