Theactualtasksunderlyingtheprojectwerescheduledfortwoyearsand
coveredthefollowingscopeofactivity:
five10-dayinternationalworkshopsduringwhichtheparticipantshad
anopportunityto:familiarisethemselveswiththespecificcharacterof
socialconflictsinparticularcountriesandresultingeducationalprob-
lems,learnaboutthemethodsofcopingwithsuchproblemsinnor-
malconditionsofroutineworkandlife,exchangeexperienceasfaras
mediationandnegotiationinconflictsituationsareconcernedandac-
quirenewpedagogicalskillsduringpracticalactivities;
publicationofabookpromotingtheideaoftheproject,describingthe
achievementsoftheparticipants,theirpracticalexperience,conclusions
fromthetasksundertakenortheoreticalreflectionsconnectedwiththe
problemsofteenagers,theiraggressivebehaviourandconflictsbetween
youngpeople;
trainingsessionswereorganisedinhostcountriesandregionsandas
aresulttheparticipantswereabletoworkoutnewmethodsofwork
withchildren,teenagers,parents,teachersaswellaspreparematerials
whichcouldbeusedwhileworkingwithyoungpeople;
directworkwithyoungpeopleinselectedschoolsandeducationalin-
stitutionsinparticularregions.
Theparticipantsoftheprojectfoundsubsequentstudytripsparticularly
informative,especiallyfromthecognitivepointofview,sincetheywereof-
feredanopportunitytotakeacloserlookatproblemstypicalforparticular
countriesorregions.Itturnsoutthatwhatposesaspecificprobleminone
areaorcountryisnolonerathreatsomewhereelse.Itwaseitherdealtwith
successfullyinthepast,itisefficientlypreventedoritbecomesinsignificant
fromthegeneralpointofview.
ForinstancewhilevisitingNorthernIreland,projectparticipantshadan
opportunitytogainanin-depthknowledgeoftheessenceandoriginsofthe
existingreligiousconflicts.Theseconflicts,sotypicalofthisregion,dooc-
cur,yetarenotsosignificantinothercountries.Nevertheless,gettingabet-
terinsightintotheessenceoftheproblemsaswelltheirsignificancefored-
ucationalpracticewasofparticularinterest.Projectparticipantsmayhave
beenmisleadbyadeceptiveimpressionthatnobodyrememberswhatitis
thatthepeopleinNorthernIrelandfightforandwhereallthehatredand
