befoundinhisrevolutonarybookttledDidactca.Hewasapropagator
oftheprincipleofdemonstratonwhenteachingaFLtonon-natvelearn-
ers.Someotherobservatonsfoundinthebookare1)theintroducton
ofinductvetechniques,2)systematzatonofthelearnedstructuresand
3)informatonaboutthegrammatcalrulestobegiventothepupilsin
theformofaconclusivespecificaton.Hisotherbook,ttledLinguarum
MethodusNovissimaalsocontainedanumberoffruitfulsuggestions,
suchas:1)theelementarystageoflearningLatnshouldmakeuseofthe
pupils!vernacularlanguage;and2)apartfromLatin,otherlanguages,
especiallythosewhichare!commonlyknown!,shouldbetaught;itwas
alsoComenius,whofirstconsideredthecommunicatvenatureoflan-
guage.Oneofhismostrevolutonarypostulateswasthatlanguagewas
verycloselyconnectedwiththinkingandreasoning,claimingthatthe
knowledgeofwordswithoutsubsequentknowledgeofdesignatedideas
isfruitless;

do,actwhiletalkingaboutthething,letthemimitateyouasmuchas

tongroundstherules(ł),thusstressingtheproperorganizatonof
alesson;
–Hewasoftheopinionthatsystematcgradatonofthelinguistcmate-
rialfacilitatesthewholeprocessoflearningaFL,atthesametmemak-
ingitlessdifcult,asthepupilscanacquirethenewmaterialslowly,
butgradually;
–Healsosuggestedthecontnuityoftheteachingprocessandtheelu-
cidatonofthenewmaterialsonthebasisofwhathadalreadybeen
learned.Hewrote:(ł)intheprocessoflearning,allthethingstobe
learnedshouldbethegoal,whereasallthethingslearned–ameans
tothegoal(ł);

ing.Motvatoncanbeincreasedwhenpupilsareactvelyinvolvedin
