teachingwouldenablelearnerstodevelopcosmopolitancitizenship,which

wouldexceedthelimitofnationstatesandpromotesocialjusticeinnewly

emergingsupranationalcommunicativecommunities,ortransnational

citizenship,whichwouldsupporttheideaofgivingpeoplefullcivilrightsin

thecountriestheycannowchoosetoidentifywith.

Theneedtoincludethetransnationalparadigmwithinintercultural

teachingisalsosharedbyRisager(2007),whoproposesthatteachers

developintheirlearners’theinterculturalcompetenceoftheworldcitizen.
