ofhumanlife.Webelievethatoneofthetheoreticalconceptsput
forwardbyM.S.Archerolersthebestchanceforthesociological
sciencestocapablyperformtheircognitiveandprojectivefunctions.
Forthisreason,theworksofMargaretS.Archerhavebeenunder
constantscrutinyattheDepartmentofSocialToughtintheInstitute
ofSociologyandtheFacultyofHistoricalandSocialSciencesatthe
CardinalStefanWyszyńskiUniversityinWarsaw(CSWU).Tishas
ledtotheproductionofnumerousresearchpapersanddebates,aswell
asmaster’s,doctoralandhabilitationdissertations.
Tescientificaccomplishmentsofthisrenownedsociologistarethe
sourceofthemostcriticalstudiesundertakenbyourDepartment.We
havethuscommencedthepublishingofworksbyM.S.Archerherself,
aswellaspaperspertainingtohertheoriesorinspiredbyherresearch.
ItisofspecialimportanceinPoland,wherethisdistinguishedscientist
hasnotbeenwidelytranslatedorcitedsofar.Ourintentionistofillthis
gap.TeDepartmentofSocialToughtaspirestointroducetheworksof
MargaretS.Archer,alongwithherapproachtocriticalrealismtoPolish
sociologyandothersocialsciences.
Criticalrealismisofcourseaphilosophicalconcept.TisBritish
analyticalapproachtophilosophyprovides(ratherunintentionally)the
epistemological,ontologicalandaxiologicalbasisforanalyticsociology
(anditsdiverseparadigms).Criticalrealismhasbecomethefoundationof
adilerentgenreofsociology,thoughsadlyinPoland,itisstillrelatively
unknowninwidercircles.Terefore,theFacultyofHistoricaland
SocialSciencesofCSWU,includingtheInstituteofSociology,and
ourDepartment,hasinitiatedannualmeetingsrelatingdirectlytothe
worksofM.S.Archerandthescholarsassociatedwithhertheories,
