Thedevelopmentoftheconceptofthebitcoinsystemin2008anditsimplementation

ayearlaterconstituteoneofthemostimportanteventsininternationalfinanceinrecent

years.Theutilisationoftherevolutionarytechnologyoftheso-calledblockchainas

awaytocreateadecentralisedpaymentsystem,independentofbankingandstate

institutions,andwithinitanalternativeandunprecedentedformofmoney,wasthe

seedofacompletelynewphenomenon-cryptocurrencies.Thebirthandgrowth

ofanequallypioneeringbusinessindustrythataccompaniedtheirdevelopment,

abranchincludingservicesrelatedtotheircreation,exchange,storageandsupport

forpayments,attractedtheattentionofpeoplearoundtheworld,alsothoseinvolved

inresearchinthefieldofeconomicsciences.

Theprecursorandstillthemostimportantcryptocurrencyremainsbitcoin.Itisthe

onewhichsetsthestandards,formsthebasisforthedevelopmentofnewandmore

andmoreefficientpaymentsolutions,andthescaleoftradinginitandfluctuationsin

itsexchangerateareasignificantchallengeforlawmakersandinstitutionsregulating

thefinancialmarket.However,anumberofbarriersstandinthewayofitsincreasing

useasinternationalmoneyinaninnovativesetting.

Nevertheless,cryptocurrencieshavealreadysettledpermanentlyininternational

finance.Thetool,whichjustafewyearsagowasknownonlytoasmallgroupof

enthusiasts,aftertheboomoftheendof2017significantlyexpandedthesphereofits

ownersandincreasedthescaleofitsuseinpaymentsandtrade.Interestintheminthe

globalsocietyhasalsoincreased,andthegrowingnumberoftheirtypes,exchanges,

outletsacceptingthem,thelegalregulationsandnewerandnewertechnological

solutionsclearlyindicatethebroaddevelopmentprospectsaheadofthem.

Theaimofthischapteristheidentificationofthenatureofcryptocurrenciesand

theireconomicessence.Thefollowingresearchquestionswereadoptedinorderto

achieveit:
