operationstheoryistheresultofscientificresearch.Terefore,itshouldbe
consideredthatthePolishapproachunderstandstheoperationalartasthe
scienceofoperationalartbasicsandknowledgeaboutoperationspreparation
andconductwhichisderivedfromthescience,anddescribedinthetheoryof
operations.
Teoperationalart’saimisthecognitiveobjectiverealisation,i.e.
descriptionandexplanationoftheoperationphenomenonandevolution-
causingfactors.Creationoftheoreticalknowledgerelatedtothedevelopment
ofthephenomenonofoperationsremainstheutilitariangoal2.Withsuch
goalsdefined,thenationaloperationalartperspectiveasascientificspeciality
implementstheoretical,practical,anddidacticfunctions3.
Tetheoreticalfunction’sscopeincludesanexaminationofthemethods
andformsofconductingoperationsandoperationactivitieswhichsupport
thestatepolicyobjectivesintheperiodofpeace,crisis,andwar.Itenables
thestatements,hypothesesandthesesformulationrelatedtotheoperational
arttheoryandpracticedevelopment4.Itisfulfilledthroughthefunctionsof
science:descriptive,operational,diagnostic,prognostic,methodologicaland
systematising5.
Tepracticalfunctionsignifiestheabilitytoplanandorganiseoperations
andoperationalcommandbycommandersandstais;itisexpressedthrough
commandandmanagementfunctionsattheoperationalcommandlevelandthe
operationcomponentlevel6.Itisfulfilledthroughmanagerial(management)
functions:planning,organisation,leadingandcontrol7.
