Nevertheless,thesingularform(research)appearstobemuchthe
morecommonforminEnglish,e.g.
–Thisstudyshowsthatin1989Japanstartedspendingalarger
percentageofitsgrossnationalproductonresearchthantheUS.
Secondly,Cbadanianaukowe’canalsobetranslated,thoughless
frequently,asscientificresearch.Thepointis:shouldthewordscientific
alwaysbeincludedinsuchtranslation,orcanweomitit?Thewordscientific
appearstobesuperfluous,becausetheEnglishwordresearchitselfalready
containsthenotionofscientific,ofstudy,etc.Scientificisnottheexact
equivalentofCnaukowe’anyway.Soinmostcasesweuseresearchalone,
ignoringthewordscientific.Indeeditisnoteasytofindanexamplewhere
bothscientificandresearchoccurtogether.Thefollowingisarareexample:
