SUMMARY
Themainthemeofthemonographisthepresentation,basedonaqueryinthe
scientificcollectionsandarchives,aswellasoninformationcollectedfrom
manyscatteredsources,thehistoryofsportsarchitectureinthenon-European
countries,presentedagainstthebackgroundofsocio-culturalconditions.
Itisaconsequentcontinuationofthelong-termresearchonthehistoryof
sportsarchitectureinEurope.Inthenextstage,ourinterestwasfocusedon
thehistoryofobjectserectedinnon-Europeancountries:Africa,North,Central
andSouthAmericaaswellasAsiaandAustralia.Historyofsportsarchitecture
onthesecontinentswasconsideredagainstthebackgroundofsocio-cultural
conditionsandinthecontextofthedevelopmentofindividualsportspopular
inthedescribedcivilizations.Thefinaleffectoftheseworksisthismonograph,
basedoncollected,analysedandorderedmaterial.Aswehope,thisapproach
tothehistoryoutlineofsportsarchitecturecouldgiveafullpictureofthehis-
toryofconstructionforsportagainstthebackdropofthedevelopmentofcivili-
zationofallcontinents.
Thepresentedresearchstudieswereacontinuationofworkonsportsfacilities
inEurope,abookelaboratedbythesameauthorsentitled:'Historyofsports
facilitiesinEurope',publishedin2017bytheJosephPilsudskiUniversityof
PhysicalEducationinWarsaw.Theirextensiontoothercontinents,aswehope,
allowsustopresentafullpictureofthedevelopmentofsportsarchitecture
aroundtheworld,discussedagainstthebackgroundofthedevelopmenthistory
ofvariouscivilizationsandthesocietiesthatmakeupthem.Thehistorical
cross-sectionthatthemonographcoversistheperiodfromancienttimestothe
presentday(around4000years).Thedevelopmentofuniversalsportsarchi-
tecture,justlikeinthecaseofthehistoryofsportsconstructioninEurope,we
wanttopresentagainstthebackgroundofthemostimportantpoliticalevents
andsocialchanges,becausethisapproachiscommonamongsporthistorians
andthusseemsfullyjustifiedinrelationtothetopic
