fromGodcomesthisinseparablecloseness.Inthedeepestsensefreedom
cannotbe“takenthepossessionof”(reached,obtained,regained,etc.)
neitherbyviolence,courage,deceit,norbywork.Indeed,partlythrough
allthesemeans(andthroughmanyother,moreorlessefectiveactions),
butonlypartiallyasamatteroffactandnotwithrespecttothe
heartoffreedomreachingitsonticsubstance:thisoneisrelatedtolove.
BecauseitisthegiftofGod-Love,whomadefreedomanindeliblemark
ofpurityofhiscreativeact,andthereforetheimageandlikeness.Joseph
RatzingerontheexodusfromEgypt,theparadigmofallkindsoflibera-
tionofman,nationsandmankind,withaclearreferencetotheDivine
“heartoffreedom”:freedomcanbeaccomplishedonlybylovethatsac-
rificesitselfandbindsmentogetherintheirowndepth,andthisbecause
itallowsthemtomaintainthedivinedimension.”9
Thisdependenceis,whichistheologicallyobvious,mutual.Free-
domisthebasisofthemysteryoflove.10Andthisalsoincludes“Divine”
(ofGod).WhatisimportantinthisrelationshipisitsDivinesource:Logos.
TheChristianfaith,containingcomprehensiveunderstandingoffreedom,
seesthefoundationoffreedominLogoswithinthelogicoftheall-
comprising-realitythatitimplies,theChristianfaithseesthefoundation
offreedom,justificationofitsprimacyinthestructureofcreation:“Only
relationshipwithLogosestablishesfreedomasastructuralprincipleof
reality.”11How?
Sincethelogosofallexistence,whichsupportsandembracesevery-
thing,isconsciousness,freedom,andlove,itfollowsthatfreedom(reason-
able,opentoloveandbeingaprerequisiteoflove)isthehighestinthe
world,higherthanacosmicnecessityandfateofdetermination.Freedom
isthestructureoftheworldthatforthisreason,forreasonsoffree-
domandloveisimpossibletocomprehend,unpredictable.Itcannotbe
reducedtothemathematicallogic.
