Theaimofserialcompensationisimprovingthevoltageflowinagivennetworknode.
Suchunitsarebothtoprotectthewholeofthenetworkagainstthenegativeinfluenceof
non-linearloadsandtoprotecttheloadsagainstdistortionscomingfromthenetwork.This
paperpresentsprinciplesofworkofactiveserialcompensationsystem.It’saboutusing
adaptivemethodsforcontrollingcompensation
units.Thismethodsareusingthe
techniquesofadaptivedigitalfiltersi.e.Kalman’sfiltrationalgorithms.Simulationswere
conductedinMatlab®/Simulink®environment.Theobtainedresultsshowhighefficiency
ofworkofactivecompensationsystemwithapplicationofadaptivedigitalmethods.
1.INTRODUCTION
Evolutionoftechniqueisareasonofmorecommonuseofnon-linearpower
load,whichcausesignificantdropofparametersandqualityofelectricpower
suppliedforrecipients.Thisisareasonofincreaseofinterestinmodernefficient
methodsandcompensationsystems,whichcanbringavoltageandcurrent
distortiondowntonominallevel.
Systemssuggestedforcompensationofpowerqualityare,amongothers,active
serialcompensationunits[1,2]workingascontrolledvoltagesources.Voltage
regulationandsymmetryalsoactivefiltrationofdistortionsandpowerflow
control,aremaintasksrealizedbythisunitsinpowersystemnode.Themain
element,enablingfullrealizationofcompensationtasks,suchasadjustmentof
amplitudeandphaseofbaseharmonicfrequency,aswellashigherharmonics,is
anadditivevoltagegeneratedbyseriesvoltagesource.Practicallytheseparameters
areadjustedbypowerelectronicinverters,workingascontrolledvoltagesources.
Thecorrectrealizationoftheunit’stasksisconnectedwiththecontrolling
precision,reactionspeedandresistancetodistortion,alsowithneedofprecise
mappingofthesteeringgivensignals(inspecifiedband),i.e.voltagereference.
Thisdemandsapplicationofmoreefficientcontrolmethods,basedonadaptive
digitalfilters.Thispaperpresentsactiveserialcompensationsystem,which
