Aloe–amonocotyledonousgenuswithabout180species,mostofwhicharenativeto
Africa,MadagascarandArabia.Speciesbelongingtothisgenusareherbaceousshrubs
ortrees,oftenwithreducedstems.Teleavesarebasalorformacrownattheends
ofbranches.Teplantsproduceanthraquinonesbutnoalkaloidsorstarch.Several
