wearingjeansandtrendyt-shirts,withmanyfriendsamongthenon-Muslims,

motherinadińerentway.Choosingtheirownpath,theyobjectedtothefa-
thersandbrothers,forwhichtheypaidtheultimateprice-theirlives.Tey
wantedtoliveintwoworlds,butthepoweroftraditiondidnotallowthemto
doso.Teywerekilledinthenameofthefamilyhonor,religion,andculture.
TeUnitedNationsestimatesthatthereareapproximatelyfivethousandsimilar
killingsayear.Tisisadrasticexampleillustratingtheproblemofidentityin

Canadahasdevelopedonthebasisofagroupofimmigrantsarrivingfrom
dińerentculturalbackgroundsduringalonghistoricalperiod.Initially,they
camealmostexclusivelyfromEuropebutovertime,therepresentativesofoth-
ercountriesandcontinentsstartedtojointhem.Today)sterritoryofCanadais
inhabitedbytherepresentativesofmorethanahundredethnicgroups.Tus,
