wordwhichhasbeenandstilliscurrentinmanylanguagesimparting
thenotionofhavingverygreat/infiniteauthorityor/andpower,
onoccasionsinallusiontogod,butnotasgod—anomnipotent
ruler/sovereign.Theconceptofbeingthe“image”ofgodbythe
royaltyhasbeenwidespreadthroughouthistorywhichinthecase
underconsiderationmaybecorroboratedbytheconversationbetween
ThemistoclesandtheChiliarchintheAchaemenianperiod:“Nowyou
Hellenesaresaidtoadmirelibertyandequalityaboveallthings;but
inoureyes,amongmanyfaircustoms,thisisthefairestofall,
tohonourtheKing,andtopayobeisancetohimastheimageofthat
godwhoisthepreserverofallthings”(Plutarch,
Themistocles
,27.3).

worshipingalmighty/omnipotent,Ardaxšīr,kingofkingsofĒrān,who
(isan/isinthe)imageofthegods.”
