anumberofvariables.Intotal,asetofthirty-fourvariableswereusedinthe

analysis.Theresearchwascarriedoutintheyearsof2006-2008andin2000.

ChapterThreepresentstheresultsofsecondaryresearch,determiningthe

realinvestmentattractivenessoftheSilesianVoivodship.Itprovidesthegeneral

dataabouttheSilesianVoivodship,describestheFDIinflowsintothevoivod-

ship,andshowssomeforecastsanddirectionsforFDIdevelopment.Italsoiden-

tifiestheroleplayedbythelocalgovernmentunitsandtheKatowiceSpecial

EconomicZoneincreatingafavourableclimateforforeigninvestments.

ChapterFourpresentstheresultsofdirectresearchontheperceivedinvest-

mentattractivenessoftheSilesianVoivodship.Thischapterreferstotheex-

perts’opinionsaboutthecriteriaofandmethodsforcreatingtheinvestment

attractiveness.Theresultsoftheresearchincludealsotheevaluationofthespe-

cificfactorsaffectingtheinvestmentattractivenessoftheSilesianVoivodship,

asdonebytheexperts,aswellastheexperts’opinionsabouttheimportanceof

thepromotioneffortsinimprovingtheregion’sinvestmentattractiveness.This

chaptershowsthemanagers’experiencesrelatedtotheoperationscarriedoutby

theircompaniesintheSilesianVoivodshipandtheresultsofadiscussionpanel

entitled„WhyKatowice?”,wheretheexpertspresentedtheiropinionsaboutthe

mainopportunitiesandthreatsconnectedwithinvestinginKatowice.
