Abstract
Manyresearchershighlightthefactthatitisaconvolutedtasktomakeadistinction
betweenthepedagogiccontentandsubjectmatterknowledgewhileteachingEnglishfor
SpecificPurposes.Otherscholarsclaimthatsubjectspecialistsdifiersignificantlyfrom
languagespecialistsduetodifierentteachingmethods,aswellasduetothestatusof
disciplinaryentities.
TispaperendeavourstoshowtheoutcomesofresearchconductedattheFacultyof
Law,UniversityofBiałystok,amongsubject-specialiststeachinglawinEnglishandlanguage
specialiststeachingLegalEnglish.Teaimoftheresearchwastoinvestigatehowbothgroups
perceivetheneedsoflawstudentsasregardslearningEnglishforprofessionalpurposes
(i.e.LegalEnglish)andwhatmethodologytheyexploittomaketheprocessoflearning
LegalEnglishefiective.Testudyassumedmainlyaqualitativemethodologyencompassing
aquestionnaireandasemi-structuredinterview.Teauthoralsohopestoshedsomelight
onpossiblewaysofefiectiveco-operationbetweenlanguageandsubjectspecialists,which
wouldcontributetobetterlanguageacquisitiononthepartofthelawstudents.
