helpyou–eventhosewholearnedmathematicsinhighschoolonlyatthe
elementarylevel–topasstheexamsinmathematics(oranyothersimilar
courses).
Thebookispreparedinawaythatallowsyoutolearnbyyourself.Hence,great
emphasiswasplacedontheexamplesthatdominateinthisbook.Theyare
resolved“stepbystep”tomakeiteasytounderstandthem.
Ialsobrieflydiscussedsomeoftheissuesthatshouldbediscussedinhigh
school,butoftencausesometrouble:solvingpolynomialandrationalequations
andinequalities,basicpropertiesofexponentialandlogarithmicfunctions.
Thebookconsistsoffourteenchapters,whichcanbedividedintofour
conventionalparts.Thefirstpart,consistingofChapters1,2and3,introduce
youtothebasicissuesrelatedtologicandsettheory.Ithasbeendiscussed,
interalia,issuessuchasthesentencealgebra,quantifiers,settheory,and
relations.Inthesecondpart(Chapters4and5)Idiscussedthebasicsoflinear
algebra.Youwilllearnfromithowtoapplyarrays,vectors,determinantsand
linearsystemsineconomics.Inthelargestthirdpart(Chapters6–13),
Idiscussedthebasicconceptsofcalculusandtheireconomicapplications.So
hereyouwillfindthemethodsofdeterminingthelimitsandderivatives,finding
theextrema,andsolvingthedifferentialanddifferenceequations.Applications
havebeencollectedinChapters12and13–hereyouwillfind,amongothers,
theinformationaboutmarginalanalysisandfoundationsoffinancial
mathematics.Thelast,fourthpartconsistsofoneChapter(14).Idiscussed
therethefoundationsofprobabilitytheory,includingmostimportantfromthe
pointofviewofyourfuturework,randomvariables.
Eachchapterconsistsofatleasttwosections,almosteachsectionconsistsof
fourparts.Firstofthemisashorttheoreticalintroduction(itisenoughfor
understandingtheexamplesandsolvingtheexercises,butitisnotexhausting
