Thegeneralthemesofthedissertationaretrustandcredibilityinsocial-
drivendata.Thedissertationisnotmerelyasimplecompilationofcon-
ferenceandjournalpapers,becausethesemanuscriptsfocusonnarrowly
definedsubjectsandlackageneralunifyingframework.Therefore,theau-
thorhasdecidedtousethematerialfromthesepublicationsselectively,
enrichingitwithdetaileddescriptionsandcommentaries,addingtoeach
chapterrelevantinformationontherelatedwork,andprovidingthereader
withabroadintroductiontothecontemporaryworldofnewmedia,newfo-
rumsandnewmarkets.Thereadermaythusconsiderthisdissertationasan
exampleofacumulativehabilitationthesis,withsubsequentchaptersbeing
mucheditedpreviousauthor?sworksonthesubject.Theoriginalpapers,on
whichthishabilitationthesisisbased,areallpublishedininternationalcon-
ferenceproceedingsandjournals,andthusarewritteninEnglish.Forthe
reasonsoflinguisticcoherenceandtomakethethesisaccessibletoamuch
broaderaudience,Englishhasbeenselectedasthepreferredlanguagefor
theentiredissertation.
