AmericanSeminarofMusicalHeritageandEducation,withrepresentatives
fromfifteencountries[www3].Thisinternationalnetworkstartedwithfifteen
Ibero-Americanuniversitiesandisinconstantgrowth.Wearemakingprogress
withthem,inthisresearchprofileandintransferofteachingpracticeswithour
studentsonbothsidesoftheAtlantic.Wewillshortlyopenvirtualclassroomsso
thattheycancommunicatewitheachother.AYouTubechannelhasalreadybeen
opened[www6]touploadrepresentativeaudiovisualmaterialofwhatisbeing
generated.
WearenowlookingmostcloselyattheencounterbetweenEurope,Africaand
America,andtherelationsamongalltheworld’sculturesthroughthesimilarity
ofmusicalmanifestations,instruments,dances,romanticballadsandsongs,from
themostbasictothemostsophisticatedwithaviewtotheEuropeanHorizon
2020Programme.
Thelastprojectinthislineranfrom2011to2014,aspartoftheNational
R&D&IProgrammeoftheSpanishMinistryofEconomyandCompetitiveness,
withthetheme“Música,danzayritualenelEncuentroIberoamericano.
Elpatrimoniocompartidoysutranscendenciaenlaeducación”(Music,dance
andritualintheIbero-AmericanEncounter.Thesharedheritageanditssignifi-

co-ordinatedfromtheUniversityofExtremadura(PrincipalInvestigator:Pilar
Barrios),andwiththeuniversitiesofValladolid(PrincipalInvestigator:José
IgnacioPalacios)andoftheBasqueCountry(PrincipalInvestigator:Maravillas
Diaz),incollaborationwithotherSpanish,PortugueseandLatin-Americanuni-
versities.
1.Startinghypothesis
Theabovecommentsdonotofferanewhypothesis,butwebaseourselveson
previousstudies,thatistosay,ontheexistenceofaheritagethat,aswellasbe-
inglinguistic,linkstheIberianPeninsulawithPortugalandtheLatin-American
countries.Wepointoutthewealthofculturaldiversity,withtheclearideathat
everypeople,everygrouphasitsownsignsofidentityandspecificbelonging.
However,thereisaseriesofitemsthat,fromtheIberiancommunities,have
demonstratedacontributiontootherpeoplesandculturesintheworld,receiving
inturnitemsfromthosepeoplesandcultures.
