time,JesusbegantoshowhisdisciplesthathemustgotoJerusalem
andsuffermanythingsfromtheelders,chiefpriests,andscribes,and
bekilled,andthethirddayberaisedup.
16.22Petertookhimaside,andbegantorebukehim,saying,“Far
beitfromyou,Lord!Thiswillneverbedonetoyou.”
16.23Butheturned,andsaidtoPeter,“Getbehindme,Satan!Youare
astumblingblocktome,foryouarenotsettingyourmindonthe
thingsofGod,butonthethingsofmen.”16.24ThenJesussaidtohis
disciples,“Ifanyonedesirestocomeafterme,lethimdenyhimself,
andtakeuphiscross,andfollowme.16.25Forwhoeverdesirestosave
hislifewillloseit,andwhoeverwilllosehislifeformysakewillfind
it.16.26Forwhatwillitprofitaman,ifhegainsthewholeworld,and
forfeitshislife?Orwhatwillamangiveinexchangeforhislife?16.27
FortheSonofManwillcomeinthegloryofhisFatherwithhis
angels,andthenhewillrendertoeveryoneaccordingtohisdeeds.16.28
MostcertainlyItellyou,therearesomestandingherewhowill
innowaytasteofdeath,untiltheyseetheSonofMancominginhis
Kingdom.”

17.1Aftersixdays,JesustookwithhimPeter,James,andJohnhis
brother,andbroughtthemupintoahighmountainbythemselves.17.2
Hewastransfiguredbeforethem.Hisfaceshonelikethesun,andhis
garmentsbecameaswhiteasthelight.17.3Behold,MosesandElijah
appearedtothemtalkingwithhim.
17.4Peteranswered,andsaidtoJesus,“Lord,itisgoodfor
ustobehere.Ifyouwant,let’smakethreetentshere:oneforyou,one
forMoses,andoneforElijah.”
17.5Whilehewasstillspeaking,behold,abrightcloudovershadowed
them.Behold,avoicecameoutofthecloud,saying,“This
ismybelovedSon,inwhomIamwellpleased.Listentohim.”
17.6Whenthedisciplesheardit,theyfellontheirfaces,andwerevery
afraid.17.7Jesuscameandtouchedthemandsaid,“Getup,anddon’t
