Thismonographistheresultoftheconference.Themonographincludesanaly-

sesandreflectionsontheimplementationofpensionreformsandtheimpactofthe

globalcrisisonpensionsecuritysystemsinEurope(PartI)andoutsideEurope

(PartII).

Thedescriptionoftheresultsandthecriticalanalysisofpensionreformsinse-

lectedEuropeancountries(Ireland,Sweden,Portugal,countriesofCentraland

EasternEurope)andcountriesfromothercontinents(USA,China)providesrich

materialforcomparisonandreflection.Itturnsoutthatdespitethelargestructural

diversityofpensionschemedesigns,differentinstitutionaltraditions,differencesin

socio-economicdevelopment,manyoftheproblemsassociatedwithreforming

pensionschemesandtheiroperationarecommon.Theyincludeproblemsrelatedto

themanagementofrisk,riskofpovertyfortheelderly,insufficientlevelofsup-

plementarypensionsavingsalongwithadecreaseinthelevelofsecurityoffered

bypublicpensionschemes,theproperdesignationofthestatutoryretirementage

formenandwomen,theabsenceorlackofproperinformationandeducationon

pensionswhichimpedesmakingrationaldecisionsregardingsavingforretirement,

etc.Themonographalsoincludesexamplesofgoodpracticeinthereformofpen-

sionschemes.

Werecommendittoallreadersinterestedintheproblemsofpensions,bothin

academiaandinthecirclesofsocialandeconomicpolicymakers.Theprocessof

reformingpensionschemesinEuropeandonothercontinentshasnotbeenfinal-

ized,soitisworthlookingmorecloselyatsomeofthecurrenteffectstodrawap-

propriateconclusionsforthefuture.
