ofthebankssurveyeddefinesoperationalriskinanindividualway.However,afterthe
comparisonofthosesurveys,thereappearfourbasictypesofdefinitionsofoperationalrisk:
1.Operationalriskistheriskoffraudcommittedbyemployeesorpeoplefromoutside
theorganisation,riskofprocessingunauthorisedtransactionsorerrorscausedbycomputer
systems.
2.Operationalriskistheriskwhichstemsfromthesystemsill-adjustedtooperational
problemsthatarise,breachingtheguidelinessetbytheinternalcontrol,committingfraudor
unexpecteddisastersoccurring,causingextensivelossinanorganisation.
3.Operationalriskshouldbeexaminedintermsofcorrectness,effectivenessand
integrityofcontrolsystemsorothermechanismstheaimofwhichistocompletebusiness
processes.
4.Operationalriskmeanstheexposuretofinancialandnon-financiallosscausedby
unforeseeneventsorbreakdownsinprocessesconductedbyoperationalsystems
