yetthispresenceisassuchthesubjecthimselfinhisoppositional
determination,thenegativeofthesubject,apieceoffleshthatthe
subjecthadtoloseifheistoemergeasthevoidofdistancetowards
everyobjectivity.Thisuncannyobjectisthesubjectitselfinthe
modeofobjectivity,theobjectwhichisthesubject’sabsoluteother-
nesspreciselyinsofarasitisclosertothesubjectthananything
thatthesubjectcansetagainstitselfinthedomainofobjectivity.10

aphanisismaybecomeclearer:inpursuingthemeaningoftheKsigns”

dissimulationofjouissancebyretainingthedistancebetweenegoand
