tionaskedinsuchawaydirectshumanthinkingintotherealmassociatedwith
mattersofGod.Amanoftoday,asamatteroffactass(he)hasalwaysbeenis
asearcher.Inorderforthesearchtobethestrengthandsupportforahuman
being,itisimportanttosubjectittoarationalreflection.Otherwise,thewhole
gamutofpseudoreligionscomesintoexistence.1NobodyhaseverseenGod
andthereforewecanonlyspeakofGodinananthropomorphicmanner,which
impliesspeakingofGodonthebasisofhumanexperience,and,whatismore,
bymeansofanalogyandmetaphor.2Wehavetobewarynottoremovewhatis
substantiallydivinefromtheconceptofGod.
Postsecularphilosophyhasitsplaceinacurrentphilosophicalthinkingthat
arosefromthecrisisandcriticism.Initswidercontext,itcanbedescribed
aspostmodernphilosophydealingwiththeissueofreligionandseculariza-
tion.Postsecularphilosophyhasbeendevelopedontherevelationofwrong
assumptionthatthereareirreconcilabledifferencesbetweenthescientificand
technologicalprogressofmoderncivilizationandreligion.Anditdoesnot
concernonlytheUnitedStatesandtheArabcountries.Therevivalofreligion
isevidentinEurope,too.3Atthesametime,secularizationtakesplaceand
it“compelstoaradicalreinterpretationofthenatureofChristianmissionin
socialstructures,”4whileatheologicaloriginofsecularideasistakenintoac-
count.Issuesassociatedwithauniversaldistributionofhumanrights,theidea
ofaperson,autonomyofreason,freedomandsolidarity,aswellasanessential
possibilityofsocietalandtechnologicalprogressareallpartsofanoriginal
Greek,Roman,Hebrew,andChristiantheologicallegacy.Notonlywassecu-
larizedEuropeanthinkingtraditionbuiltonthatlegacy,butsowereexplicitly
antireligioussystems(theEnlightenment,Fascism,andCommunism).György
Gerébypointsouttomanyperilsthatthepostsecularthinkingaboutreligion
holdsinitself.5Theconceptofreligiondoesnotrepresentsomecommones-
senceofallreligions,sincetheconceptofGodintherespectivereligionsis
notformulatedinthesameway.JürgenHabermas,too,openlyagreeswith
thisclaimin“religiousunmusicality.”Inpostsecularthinking,theconceptof
