exploredalreadyinthe1990s.9Theywere
builtalongasmallE-Wsidestreet.Some
fragmentsofthesestructureswerealready
subjecttoconservationproceduresinthe
previousseasons.10Thisyear,anoperation
forrestoringthesouthernelevationof
thesehouseswasinitiated.Thefacadewall
(some0.50mthickand25mlong)was
ratherpoorlypreserved.Largesectionsofit
weredismantleddowntothefoundation
level.Onlyattheeasternandwesternends,
thewallstoodtoasubstantialheightof
approximately3-5coursesofashlars.The
biggestproblemfacedbyconservatorswas
theshortageofproperstonessuitablefor
reconstruction.Usingseasonedstones
storedatthesite,aswellaslooseblocks
foundduringexcavationsfinallysolvedthe
issue.Alltheblockswerecarefullychosen
with
regard
to
their
quality
and
dimensionsinordertomeetrestoration
requirements.Thewallwasfinallyrebuilt
