Tedrillingtoolsconsistofmicrodrill
bitsmadeexclusivelyofflint.Although
obsidianisrepresentedby8.78%ofthe
stoneassemblagerecoveredfromthe
house-pit,flintwasobviouslypreferred
fordrilling.Experimentaldrillingwith
anobsidianandflintdrillbitprovedthat
thelatterwasmoreefcientduetoits
greaterhardness(Altinbileketalii2001).
Teflintassemblagerecoveredfrom
thehouse-pitcontained1855(88%)flakes
anddebriswithoutsecondarymodifica-
tionapparentlyresultingfrommicrodrill
production.Tetoolsassociatedwith
drillingactivitieswerethemostnumerous,
comprising194artifacts.Ofthese,
175microdrillsarecompletelypreserved.
Inmostcases,thepointswerebluntdue
toabrasion[Fig.8:2].Onlytwomicro-
drillshavecompletelyunabradedpoints
