Hatshepsut,KV20,evidentlycarvedonce
shehadassumedpharaonicstatus,KV21,
KV32,KV42,KV46,KV49andKV56
[seeFig.2]mayallhavebeenconceivedas
tombsforEighteenthDynastyconsorts
(Reeves2003;Roehrig2010)towhich
RenéPreys(2011:318-320),following
anideamootedbyReeves(2003:72),
wouldaddKV38.MostrecentlyRoehrig
hasproposedthatthechronologicalorder
wouldbeKV42,KV32,KV49,KV46,
KV21,withtheunfinishedKV56,not
consideredbyRoehrig,notbeingprecisely
dateable,withReevesandPreyspostulating
thatKV38wouldpredateallofthem.
Basedonthefoundationdepositsfound
infrontofKV42,thattombwasprobably
intendedforHatshepsut-Merytre,wife
ofTuthmosisIII,thoughwhethershe
wasactuallyburiedinitremainsunclear.
AccordingtoRoehrig(2006:251;2010:
182),KV32wasalsocutduringthe
reignofTuthmosisIII,thoughhersole
argumentforsuchabeliefseemstobe
itscloseproximitytobothKV42and
TuthmosisIII’sowntomb,KV34.Against
thisviewisthatofPreys(2011:333),who
hassuggestedthatKV32wascutduring
thereignofAmenophisII.Recentwork
bytheUniversityofBasel,however,clearly
indicatesthatKV32wasusedfortheburial
ofQueenTiaa,aminorwifeofAmenophis
IIandmotherofTuthmosisIV
,who
appearstohavediedinoraroundYear7
ofherson(Bryan1991:108).Itisthus
