PreservationactivitieswerecarriedoutoveraperiodfromOcto-
ber1993toMay1994andwereconcentratedinthefollowing
areas1(Fig.1:1,2,3,4):
THEATER
Themainobjectiveofourworkinthissectorwastoprotect
relicsofanEarlyRomanvilladiscoveredundertheportico
locatedinfrontoftheTheater.Thepartlypreservedmarble
pavementofthetricliniumunderwentconsolidationand
reinforcementwithlimemortaratthepavement'sedges.A
detailedexhibitionplanofalltheEarlyRomanconstructions
uncoveredintheareaoftheTheater(trenchesMXandMXVI)
isduetobecompletedintheforthcomingseasonandsubmitted
totheSCAauthorities.
CISTERNS
Restorationoftheeasternfacadeofthemonumentwascom-
pleted(Fig.2).Twoadditionalsectionsofwallfacingbetween
buttressesnosIIandIII(c.23m2)aswellasbetweenbuttresses
nosIIIandIV(c.40m2)underwentcomplexrestoration.Alarge
amountofearth(c.1000m2)depositedintheareabetweenthe
CisternsandtheBathwasremovedusingheavymachinery.
