Abstract
Reductionofinventoriesandoptimumdeliveryofinputgoodsareimportantparametersfor
efficientproductionprocesses.Thereforetransportprocessesareavitalpartofindustrialproduction,and
theirfeaturesareimportantdeterminingfactorsforproductionplanning.EspeciallyintheBalticSearegion,
shortsearoroshippingconnectionsareanimportantpartoftransportchainsbutalsoconstituteabottleneck
throughtheirrestrictedschedules.Theattractivityofashort-searoroshippingconnectionisdetermined
throughseveralfactors.Amongtheseareshippingprices,transporttime,frequencybutalsofactorsthat
cannotbeinfluencedbytheshipsoperator,suchasobligatorydriverbreaksfortruckdrivers,whichusethe
shippingservice,thegeographicalpositionofportsandthegeographicalpositionoflogisticshotspots
whichdeterminethemain-transportflows.Aroroshippingservicethatispartofanoptimalconnection
betweentwologisticshotspotswouldhaveaclearadvantageonthemarket.Thepapershallpresent
amodelthatallowsfortheanalysisofcompleteintermodalRoRo-shippingchainsinregardtotheir
attractivityfortheirend-customers.Themodelcumulatesdifferentfeaturesofatransportchainintoone
indicator.TherebyallowingtheoptimizationofRoRoshippingconnectiontowardscustomerneeds.
