rolecutoutforShakespeare,whoseplay
inparticularissaidtohavemadethe
battlefamousworldwide.
Afterthefilm,thevisitorisguidedin
thedirectionofadisplayofweapons,
armour,andcostumes(enablinghim,
amongotherthings,totryoutthediffe-
rencebetweenthelongbowandthecross-
bow,ortofeelwhatitmusthavefeltlike

Ononewall,thereisadisplayofthenamesoftheEnglishdead,notjustShake-
speare’sselection,butallthenamesoftheEnglishthatareknown.Onetheopposite
wallwefindthenamesoftheFrench.
TheemphasisonEuropean,andinparticularonFranco-Englishcollaboration,
alsoexplainsthecuriousfactthatthearchitecturaldesignoftheAzincourtmuseum
unmistakablyreflectstheEnglishvictory.Theentrancewasdesignedwiththelong-
bowinmind,theveryweaponthatgavetheEnglishtheirfamousadvantageoverthe
Frenchwiththeircrossbows.Andthemotifofthelongbowthatmarksthefrontof
themuseumcontinuesinside,wherethedisplaycasesaremountedonsimilarlong-
bowconstructions.
