WelcometothesecondissueoftheSilesianJournalofLegalStudies(SJLS).
Thefirstvolumehasproventhatlegaltextsreferringtovariousbranchesoflawmay
beinterestingforscholarsandpractitionersregardlessoftheirnationalitiesandthelegal
systemsoftheircountries.ThefirstvolumeoftheSJLS,publishedin2009,hasshown
thatlegaldiscourseoverbordersisnotonlypossible,butevendesired.
Theconceptofovercomingfrontiersandobstaclesinspreadingideas,opinions,
analysesandinformationonlawandlegalsystemsisalsocontinuedinthisvolume.
It,similarlytothefirstvolume,containsarticleswrittenbyexpertsinvariousbranch-
esoflawwhocomefromPoland,Germany,Slovenia,Bulgaria,HungaryandSpain.
Theauthorspresenttopicsonthetheoryoflaw,Europeanlaw-especiallyincontext
ofpropertylawandlawreferringtoconsumers’rights,autonomyandprotectionof
localself-government,legalmeasuresforenvironmentalprotectionandevencodifi-
cationsofmilitarylawoftheXVIIIthcentury.Thetextonhistoricalmattersispartic-
ularlyinteresting,asitisratheruncommonforworksonthehistoryoflawtobepub-
lishedinnon-historicjournals.
Moreover,itisworthtomentiontwoarticles-thearticlebyElenaPérezCarilloand
FranciscoHernandezRodriguezandthearticlebyPéterCserneandÁkosSzalai.TheAu-
thorsconsiderissuesofinterdisciplinarycharacter-legalandeconomical.Thesemat-
tersareextremelyuptodateinthelightofthefinancialscandalsoftheXXIstcentury.
Itseemsthattheseworksovercomeanotherstereotype-thatvariousbranchesofsci-
enceshouldnotbemerged.Incontemporaryworldsuchanapproachseemstobeob-
solete.Nowadays,economycannotexistwithoutlawandviceversa.Theybothoper-
ateincertaininternationalrelations-demographical,historicalaswellpoliticalones.
Thisvolumecontainsonebookreview.Thisdecisionwasabsolutelyintentional.
InApril2009ProfessorNeilMacCormicpassedaway.ProfessorMacCormic’sideason
sovereigntyandliberalnationalismarewellknownandtaughtinlawschoolsaround
theworld.Thereviewisdedicatedtohislastbook.
