Dharmabhadra’scommentaryontheclassicalTibetangrammar,Si
tuZhallung(henceforthZHAL),isusedasthebasisofmyworkbe-
causeofitspopularityamongTibetanandWesternscholars.Onecan
findacompletetranslationandtransliterationofthecommentaryon
SumcupaandRtagskyi!jugpafromZHALinmywork.Ihaveused
fourdifferentversionsofZHAL.Theyare:

BasingmyselfontheZHAL,publishedbytheTibetanCultural

differentversionsoftheTibetantext,thefirsttwoareclosetotheone
publishedbytheTibetanCulturalPrintingPress.ThetextofZhallung
publishedbyDasisinmanyplacesblurred,therearemanymissingor
extrawordsbycomparisonwithothercommentaries.Comparative
notesaregiveninthefootnotestothetransliterationbelow(thecom-
paredtextsareindicatedbyabbreviations).
