Intheoldestphase(stratum5a)[Fig.3.35B:3],
theroom’sfloorwasmadeoffinebeatenyellow-
ishclay[Fig.3.36].Thewesternpartoftheroom
featuredahearth(H10),withastoragebinright
nexttoit.Therectangularhearthwasmadeofclay
mixedwithgravel.Thehearthslab(1.10x1.80m)
wasframedwithalowclaycurb.Thestoragebin
consistedofthreerectangularchamberswiththin
wallsrisingupto0.30m.Thestoragebinwasbuilt
directlyonthefloor,whichisalsoitsbottom.The
wallsofthestoragebinanditsbottomwerecov-
eredwithwhiteplaster.Thehearthlocatedinthe
contextofastoragebinmayhavebeenused,forex-
ample,forthethermalprocessingofgrainorother
agriculturalproductsandfoodstuffs,whichwere
thenstoredinaclaybin.
RoomL20functionedintwophases,inboth
stratum4andstratum5[Fig.3.37].RoomL20has
anunusuallayout.Tothenorthandwest,walls
W46andW47whichenclosedL20meetataright
angle.Tothesouth-east,roomL20wasenclosed
withcurvedwallW45whichisabuttedinsideby
threebuttressesmadeofsinglemudbricks.One
buttressmadeoftwomudbricksalsoabuttedwall
W46.ThecurvatureofwallW45resultsfromits
shapebeingadjustedtothestreetrunningnextto
it,whichcurvedgentlyinthislocation.LikeW42,
