Preface
Theauthorsofthefinalchapterofthemonographhighlightedthatthe
COVID-19pandemichasledtofundamentalchangesinmanyareasoflifein
allcountriesaroundtheworld.Ithasalsoaffectedthehighereducationsector,
asthelockdownsimposedinmostcountriesresultedintheimmediateclosure
ofuniversitiesandschools,andencourageddistancelearningforeducational
andcommunicationpurposes.Theauthorsinvestigatedhowstudents’individual
characteristicsinfluencedtheirengagementindistancelearningduringthe
pandemic,aswellastheiropinionsonthemostcommonlyuseddistancelearning
toolsandtheadvantagesanddisadvantagesoftheonline-onlyteachingmethod.
Theresearchwasbasedon234surveyresponsesprovidedbystudentsparticipating
inonline-onlycoursesatsevenPolishuniversitiesduringtheperiodofMay-June
2020.TheMann-Whitneynon-parametrictestwasusedtoanswertheresearch
questions.Accordingtothefindings,gender,students’experience,andthecycle
ofstudyhaveinfluencedtheassessmentofthetoolsusedindistancelearning,
students’engagementinonline-onlyeducation,andseveralaspectsofthisprocess.
