abroadresearchperspective.Terefore,thepresentstudyusesasystem-
icapproach,recognizingitssuperiorityoverthetraditionalreductionist
approach—theanalyticalmethodfocusesonelements,andthesystemic
methodontheinteractionsbetweenelements(Parsons,1964;vonBer-
talanńy,1968;Sienkiewicz,1994;Jackson,2003;GierszewskiandPiec-
zywok,2020).Usingsystemicthinking,factorsofvariousproblemtypes
areconsidered,includingbiological,sociological,psychological,techni-
cal,andphysicalelements,andmostimportantlythefeedbackloopsoc-
curringbetweenthem.Tesystemicapproachintroducesconceptsthat
amalgamatediversescientificdisciplinesandenablessharingofaccom-
plishmentsfromindividualfields.Tis,inturn,facilitatesacomprehensive
analysisofthesafetyphenomenon.AscorrectlynotedbyGierszewski,
therearechangeshappeningwithintheparadigmofsocialsciences,with
thefocusshifingfromtheconceptofaparttotheconceptofawhole,
asystem.Asystemicparadigmisasetofinterrelatedandcomplementary
conceptsandtheoriesthatperceivesrealityinaholisticway.Itconnects
withthefunctionalistparadigmthroughtheconceptofsystemintegra-
tion,understoodprimarilyintermsoffunctionalcohesionandthrough
strivingtomaintainbalanceinthesystem(Gierszewski,2019).
Teauthorconfirmsthatregardingtheresearchonoccupationalsafe-
tyandthesafetyculture,afunctionalist-systemicorientationwhichis
basedonthevisionofhomeostaticorganizationalharmonydominates
bothPolishandWesternscientificdiscourse.Tispredominantapproach
ofenlacksinterpretationofprocessestakingplaceinaturbulentenvi-
ronment.Inaddition,manifestationsofideologyandfalseawarenessof
culturalprocessesincontemporaryorganizationsaredisturbingphenom-
ena(Sułkowski,2011).Tisrequirescriticalinsight,andaconstanteńort
toreviseestablishedbeliefs,identifyfalseassumptions,andseealterna-
tivepointsofview.Manyyearsofresearchinthefieldofoccupational
safetyhaveledtheauthortotheconclusion(2018)thatacultureofsus-
tainableoccupationalsafetycanprovideadevelopmentopportunitynot
onlyinrelationtooccupationalsafetybutalsothroughbuildingacivil
cultureofresponsibility(see:UlrichBeck,1986;2007).Doesthesafety
culture—currentlyontheedgeofchaos,accordingtotheauthor—meet
