isverypoorlydocumented.Tereisnorecordonthedevelopmentof
deafbasketball,therearenostudiesdescribingthesituationalvariablesof
thegamesofthemostimportantbasketballevents,beitduringtheDeaf
Games,orduringtheEuropeanorWorldCup.Allinternationalsports
eventsinwhichhearingimpairedpeopleparticipatepassunnoticedand
remainpracticallywithoutcomment.Teopinionthatbasketballisasport
thatrequirescomprehensiveeye-handcoordinationhasbecomeestab-
lishedinthepublicconsciousness.Deafpeople,despitedifcultinterper-
sonalcommunication,traininmanysports,includingfootball,volleyball,
tabletennis,chess,etc.Tesesportsarepracticedbydeafpeopleonarec-
reationalaswellascompetitivelevel.However,theawarenessoftheexis-
tenceofdeafsportatthelevelofqualifiedsportinthesocietyofhearing
peopleislow.Duetoproblemsininterpersonalcommunication,thesport
ofdeafpeopleiscompletelyseparatefromthesportofhearingpeopleand
fromtheParalympicsport.Deafathletesareassociatedinseparateorgani-
zationalstructures.Tefirstinternationalsportsorganizationwasestab-
lishedin1924(theInternationalCommitteeforQuietSports)-anditwas
theequivalentoftheInternationalOlympicCommittee.
