ThesubjectofthisarticleisthegenesisofUkrainianmigrationtoPo-
land,thecausesofmigrationinitscurrentform,takingintoaccountthe
natureofmigrationafer2014.TheneedsofthePolishlabormarketre-
latedtolaborshortagesandthepossibilityoffillingtheemploymentgap
byefectivelymanagingthemigrationwave.Attentionwasalsodrawnto
thethreatsthatmaybeposedbyincreasedeconomicimmigrationfrom
UkrainetoPoland,andtheproblemofintegrationofforeignersthrough
thelabormarketwasraised.Thekeyissuewillbetheanalysisofimmi-
grationfromtheperspectiveofthestate’seconomicsecurity.
Forthisreason,themainresearchprobleminthisarticlecanbefor-
mulatedasfollows:whatistheimpactoftheimmigrationofUkrainian
citizensafer2014onPoland’seconomicsecurity?
Theanalysiswasbasedonmonographsonmigration,scientificstudies,
pressmaterials,andnumerousstatisticalstudiesoneconomicmigration.
Tocarryouttheproblemanalysisoutlinedinthisarticle,themethodof
comparative,statisticalandsystemanalysiswasused.Inordertoenrich
theproblemnarrative,chartsanddiagramsrelatedtotheimmigrationpro-
cessofUkrainiancitizensoccurringinPolandafer2014werepresented.
OriginofUkrainianmigration
SomeresearchersclaimthatforeignmigrationsoftheUkrainianpopu-
lationcanbepresentedintheformoffourmigrationwaves,thelastof
whichiseconomicemigrationaferthecollapseoftheformerSovietUn-
ion.However,lookingatthecurrentsituationinthiscountry,itwould
beaccuratetosaythatwearewitnessinganother,alreadyfifh,migration
waveofoureasternneighbors.
AfertheannexationofCrimeaandtheoutbreakofthewarinDonbass
in2014,thesituationinUkrainedeteriorateddrastically.Thepopulation
ofUkrainedecreasedby2.3millioninhabitantsofCrimea,butalsoas
aresultofmassmigrationfromareasoccupiedbypro-Russiansepara-
tists.Itisestimatedthatabout6,582millionpeoplelivedintheseareas1.
