notfindingthecollectionduringaninternalinquiryattheconvent.Noneof
theSisterspassedonthesecretandinstructionstotheirsuccessorsbecause...
thearchivematerialhadalreadybeenpickedup.Gen.WincentyKowalski
informedBudnyaboutitonabriefnotecard.InFebruary1976,theSistersof
NazarethwrotetothedirectoroftheInstituteonceagain,butthecontentof
thisletterisnotinChodacki)sarchive.However,Budny)shandwrittennoteof
February19,1976addressedtoProfessorWacławJędrzejewiczhassurvived,
containingashortquestion:arethesethepapersofthelateChodacki?
ItturnedoutthatallthedocumentshadbeenhiddenintheInstituteforalmost
twentyyears.OnNovember9,1959,HenrykKorab-Janowicz,thePresidentof
theInstitute,andGen.WincentyKowalski,itsdirector,authorizedCol.Adam
Koctogoandobtainthedepositeddocumentsoutofthemonastery.From
thepreservedhandwrittennoteonthelettertoMotherSuperior,itappears
thatCol.Kocconfirmedthereceiptofthedocumentsadaylater.However,
itmusthavebeenalongtimesincetheywererediscoveredagainin1976,
beforethefirstresearchersstartedtozeroinonthem.Tiswastheprice
ofMarianChodacki)sprofessionalism,butwhoknows,howmanyhuman
livesweresavedandfatesańected.Knowledgeaboutthefunctioningofthe
intelligenceservicesoftheSecondPolishRepublicwasverymuchdesired
