DziejeuchodźstwapolskiegowLibanie1943-195052,publishedinBeirutin1955.Un-
fortuntely,onecouldinveinsearchforsomeattemptsataprofessionalanalysisof
thephenomenonthatcouldbelabelledasKPolishartisticBeirut”inKantak’sbook,
whichisunderstandablegiventhefactthatneitherKantaknorZielińska-Schemaly
wereartexperts.
In2014hasbeenpublshed7thvolumeoftheseriesŚwiadectwa.Testimonianze,
entitledWposzukiwaniupiękna.PolscyartyściplastycyweWłoszech(IIpoł.XIXw.iI
połXXw.)53.ThispublicationaimsatpresentingabroadpanoramaofPolishartistic
presenceandexhibitionactivitiesinRomeintheyears1942-1946.Theauthorof
thebookincludedinthestudytheasyetunpublishedsourcematerialsrelatedtothe
organizationalactivitiesandcreativeworkofJózefJaremafromtheKRomanperiod”
ofhisartisticcareer.ThetextalsodocumentsJarema’sroleasaninitiatorandfounder
oftheArtClub,establishedin1944,whichislittleknowninPolandbutappreciated
overthepagesofWesternliterature.However,themajorityofItalianarthistorians
unjustlyattributetheinitiativetoestablishtheclubtoEnricoPrampolini54.Sofar,
theparticipationofPolishsoldier-studentsintheartisticlifeofpost-warcapitalof
Italyhavebeenlargelyoverlookedandunknown.Thisisalsotrueabouttheactualin-
volvementofMarianBohusz-Szyszkointheprocessofacademicformationoffuture
Polishartists.Inthelightoftherecentresearch,theviewthattheSchoolofPainting
locatedinCecchignolanearRomeplayedanessentialroleatthattimehadtoundergo
amajorrevision.TheschoolofBohusz-Szyszkowasfocusedmoreonorganizational
andadvisoryissuesthanonthedevelopmentofacademicandartisticskills.Infact,
Polishstudentsbenefittedmostlyfromthefirst-handexperiencewithartthrough
activeparticipationintheworkofdifferentstudiosandtraininginpainting,sculp-
ture,scenographyandinteriorarchitecturetheyreceivedattheAccademiadiBelle
ArtiinRome,andnotintheCecchignolacamp.Beingoneofthemostprestigious
artisticschoolinthecontemporaryEurope,theAcademyofferedtoPolishstudents
classeswiththemostfamousmastersofmodernItalianartofthattime,whichgave
