8.19Ascribecame,andsaidtohim,“Teacher,Iwillfollowyou
whereveryougo.”
8.20Jesussaidtohim,“Thefoxeshaveholes,andthebirdsofthesky
havenests,buttheSonofManhasnowheretolayhishead.”
8.21Anotherofhisdisciplessaidtohim,“Lord,allowmefirsttogoand
burymyfather.”
8.22ButJesussaidtohim,“Followme,andleavethedeadtoburytheir
owndead.”
8.23Whenhegotintoaboat,hisdisciplesfollowedhim.8.24Behold,
aviolentstormcameuponthesea,somuchthattheboatwascovered
withthewaves,buthewasasleep.8.25Theycametohim,andwoke
himup,saying,“Saveus,Lord!Wearedying!”
8.26Hesaidtothem,“Whyareyoufearful,Oyouoflittlefaith?”Then
hegotup,rebukedthewindandthesea,andtherewasagreatcalm.
8.27Themenmarveled,saying,“Whatkindofmanisthis,thateventhe
windandtheseaobeyhim?”
8.28Whenhecametotheotherside,intothecountryoftheGergesenes,
[NUreads“Gadarenes”]twopeoplepossessedbydemonsmethim
there,comingoutofthetombs,exceedinglyfierce,sothatnobody
couldpassthatway.8.29Behold,theycriedout,saying,“What
dowehavetodowithyou,Jesus,SonofGod?Haveyoucomehere
totormentusbeforethetime?”8.30Nowtherewasaherdofmanypigs
feedingfarawayfromthem.8.31Thedemonsbeggedhim,saying,“If
youcastusout,permitustogoawayintotheherdofpigs.”
8.32Hesaidtothem,“Go!”
Theycameout,andwentintotheherdofpigs:andbehold,thewhole
herdofpigsrusheddownthecliffintothesea,anddiedinthewater.
8.33Thosewhofedthemfled,andwentawayintothecity,andtold
everything,includingwhathappenedtothosewhowerepossessedwith
demons.8.34Behold,allthecitycameouttomeetJesus.Whenthey
sawhim,theybeggedthathewoulddepartfromtheirborders.
