BrandenburgisaGermannon-governmentalorganizationwhosescopeof
activitycoversthelandofBrandenburg.Themainstatutoryaimsoftheor-
ganisationincludepreventionofracismandhostilitytowardsforeignersas
wellviolenceineducationalinstitutions(bothinschoolsandoutofschool).
Theorganizationemploys,onvarioustimeandcontractualprinciples,more
than40pedagoguesandsocialworkers,whichcertainlyshouldconstitute
apatterntobefollowedinthePolishcontext.
Theemployeesimplementandsupervisevariousprojectstargetedatchil-
dren,teenagersandadults.Manyoftheseprojectsarespecificallyaimedat
teachers.Workwithimmigrants,migrantsandother‘minority,groupsalso
constitutesomeoftheprioritiesoftheprogramme.Workers,salariesaswell
astheprojectsundertakenbyRAABrandenburgarefullyfinancedfromthe
Europeanmeans,thebudgetofBrandenburgorothermeansacquiredfrom
variousfoundations.
TheprojectdescribedinvolvednotonlyRAABrandenburgbutalso
twinorganizationsinFrance:AcademieFrancaise,DélégationAcadémiqe
auxRelationsInternationalesetàlacoopérationinRennes,NorthernIre-
land:NorthEasternEducationandLibraryBoardfromAntrimandPoland:
ZielonaGóraEducationalAssociation"Civilitas”fromZielonaGóra,Teach-
erTrainingCentrefromZielonaGóraand"BonaFides”"KulturaDialogu”,
"Horyzont”,"Meditor”fromSilesia.Alltheseorganizationsareactivelyin-
volvedineducationandareexperiencedintermsofworkwithschools,chil-
drenandteenagersintheareaofconflictandviolenceprevention.Acloser
examinationofthescopeofactivityoftheseorganizationsshowsthatintheir
routine,dailyworkmanyinterestinginstancesofactionspracticallycontrib-
utingtothedemocratizationofschoollifeaswellastotheraiseofthequal-
ityofsociallifeingeneralcanbefound.
Accordingtoitsassumptionstheprojectwasaimeddirectlyattwo
groups:
teachers,pedagoguesandsocialworkersemployedinschoolsofvarious
types,willingtostartworkwithteenagers,parentsandotherteachers.
Theaimwastoacquireinterpersonalcompetencesandtheabilityto
resolveallconflictsituationspeacefullyandencouragedemocraticat-
titudesineverydaylife;
