1.Discoursetypeanddiscoursecommunityasunitsofresearch
Discourseisatermwhichmeaningischangedwiththechangeofaresearch
fielditisappliedto.BeinginthefieldofDiscourseLinguisticspromotedinto
avastspaceofAppliedLinguistics,themeaningofthetermIdiscourse’is
definitelyextended,e.g.itgoesbeyonditsItypical’linguisticboundaries.
TheissueofdefiningdiscourseisdiscussedinD-ART1and2ofthisscientific
series(D-ART1,2016;D-ART2,2017).
Thus,itisnowonderthatDiscourseLinguisticscanhaveanothername,e.g.
ExtendedLinguistics.Thelatterisbasedonitsinterdisciplinaryqualitative
characteristicsasaconsiderablenumberofdisciplinesmakeitqualitatively
different.
Anotherqualitativecharacteristicsofthefield,whichisintersymbolic
orabearerofaninter-signlinkagestructure,asawidenumberofsign-
interconnectedconstituentsmakesitqualitativelydifferent.Thisideais
complexandwillbefurtherinterpreted.
Moreandmorelinguistsnowadaysturntoacceptthefactthatdiscourse
differsfromtext,whichismanifesteddifferently.Weprocesstextualitywith
oursenses:weseethetextandhearitbutwealsotouchit,aswetouchabook,
and,togetherwithit,feelandsmellit.Havinggotanimageofatextits
formalrepresentation,which,whilebeingreflected,startsconstructingits
phenomenologicalorcommunication-biasedmeaningbasedonsuchactivities
asinformationandinteractionexchange.Asaresult,notionsandconceptsare
constructedandtextsopentodiscourseactualisedandrepresentedinbigger
structuralunitsgenresbymeansofproductionofideationalmeanings,
i.e.content,bringwiththemcommunicativesituationsandsocialcontexts.
Thus,verbalandsocialactionsaremetindiscourse.
