SuccessandFailureofMichałKalecki
Introduction
TheworkofMichałKalecki(1899–1970)remainsanimportantcontributionto
economicsandcontinuestoinspireanothergenerationofresearchers.Inthepa-
per,Iproposetolookathisworkthroughthelensofthehistoryofeconomic
thought.Theaimsofthepaperbelonginthedomainofmeta-economics.Ipro-
posetousea(meta)modelsuggestedinmethodologicalliteraturebyUskaliMäki,
philosopherofeconomicsfromHelsinki,labelledbyhimas[ModRep],inthearea
ofthehistoryofeconomicthought.Sympathetically,itishoped,Ire-labeltheme-
ta-modelas(BigMäk,,andafterenhancingitwithadditionalfeatures,Iapplyitto
thequestion:whichfactorslistedbyMäkiinhisappraisaloftheGmodellingfail-
ure”byeconomicorthodoxyoftheglobalfinancialcrisisofthebeginningofthe
21stcenturymaybefoundinthescientificpracticeofM.Kalecki.Howisitthat
ideasofaneminenteconomist,closetoJ.M.KeynesandtheCambridgeCircle,
ideasthatareconstantlybeingdiscussed,modified,anddeveloped,ofanecono-
mistwhohastherebycontributedtotheemergenceandconsolidationofadistinct
currentofeconomicthought(post-keynesianism),that,hypostasisingsomewhat,
avoidederrorsinmodellingtheGFCcommittedbyneoclassicalorthodoxy,are
notregularlytaughtinPoland,donotprovidetopicsforstudents,masterordoc-
toraldissertations,andarenotusedbymacroeconomicexpertsandadvisors?
Itisthemainhypothesisofthetextthat,inthedozenfactorsencompassed
bytheexpandedschemeofanalysisofeconomicmodellingproposedbyUskali
Mäki,wecanidentifyepistemicproblems,discursivepractices,formalandin-
formalinstitutionalrulesthatcastlightontheneglectofpost-Keynesianand
post-Kaleckiananalysesinthecontemporaryeconomicmasseducationandexer-
ciseofexpertise.Inthepaper,Iprovidea(bird,seyeview,ofelementsofKalecki,s
