2.2Vantages

Ashasbeenstatedpreviously,theoriginandtheprimaryareaoftheapplica-

tionofthetheoryisthecolourdomain.Letusassumethatapersonconstructs

ahue-basedcategorycalledblue.Theprocessstartswithselectingthefocus

(abluehue),afterwhichotherstimuliareincorporatedintothecategory’srange.

Aslongastheyaredeemedsimilartothefocus,therangewillexpand;once

theystartbeingviewedasdiferentfromthefocus,therangewillbecurtailed.
