losophyasarouteandviewsitmetaphoricallyastheactionoferos,

oraperpetuallyrenewed,insatiableeffort.Thus,heindicatestheero-

tetic(hencecritical)characterofphilosophyatitssource.Thiscritical

characterisalsopresentinPlato’sphilosophybothatthelevelofcontent

(theindicationoftheboundariesofἐpist»mhandthecognitivepossibili-

tiesofman)andmethod(elenctics,hypothetics,aporetics).Aristotelian

criticismshouldbeunderstoodasapermanentsearchforandanaly-

sisofdifferentpositionsinordertoindicatetheboundarybetween

ἐpist»mhanddÒxa.Whatsynthesizedﬁrstphilosophyandphysicswas

criticalreﬂectionjtakenupinthespiritofthediaporeticmethodj

ontheprinciplesandcausesnecessarytodeterminetheprinciples

oftheuniverse.Graspingandunderstandingtheessenceofdialectics

andaporeticsincludedintheTopicsisdirectlylinkedtothewholecor-

pusofmpost-physical”works,whichdiscussthepossibilityofcritically

investigatingthecognitiveboundariesofman.

Itdoesnotseemriskytosaythatphilosophicalcriticism(accord-

ingtotheabovedescription)appearsasoneoftheimportantpositions

thatappearedinthehistoryofphilosophyandcreativelyinﬂuenced
